“Red, Yellow, Green” Consent Coding- A concern arose again at the Fall Event about events where there isn’t full consent for participation (at an event I led). It’s time for our event culture to embrace current consent best practices. This can be really simple: for events where men may attend but not have all the information about the content or the intentions of the leaders

·        A “Green” event means it’s straight shooting with no funny business,

·        A “Yellow” event means that some men may find it edgy or evocative and

·        a “Red” event  means you step into the space knowing that their may be mischief that may evoke reactions.

With this coding implemented at our community events, we will all have a better sense of what we are stepping into.

As we move into in person events (fingers crossed) in 2021, this basic consent practice will uplevel our trust and communication. I’ll be working with the Events Lead and Event Vision Keepers and PM’s to implement.

Fall Event Venue Locating-- Peter Davis and Mike Fullmers are getting our venue locked in for the weekend of September 10-11th. Mark your calendars

TIME TO STEP UP FOR INITIATION-- Matthew Brown is leading Initiation 2021. He’s got great support and Initiation is the single most impactful opportunity we have to help you become the man you’ve always wanted to be (what would YOU do with the support of 80 men?). The time to step in is now.

Ebcom Evolution Group: Diversity and Inclusion in EBCOM**-- Since September a group of 10+ men have been meeting to discuss how our organization could create a more inclusive leadership culture.  Our working mission statement is  To increase awareness of privilege in EBCOM so as to make our organization organically more inclusive and more impactful and interwoven into the East Bay community and in the world.”

We are working on several initiatives and will have some invitations and announcements soon.

**The Leadership council would urge me to present the conversation I’m leading about Diversity and Inclusion in my role as a member of the organization. That said, for me, this conversation is inextricably linked to my commitment and visions as laid out in #1 and #2 above so I am sharing it here.

If you want to get plugged in or are interested in having my support in bringing something that will serve the Men or the Spirit of our Circle please reach out to me directly at 510-393-0089 (TEXT IS BEST!) or jesse@jessebloom.com.
