SUBMITTING
CONTENT TO THE NEWSLETTER: A GUIDE
The Newsletter is put
together using Microsoft Word. There are several formats you can use to submit
articles and images. (In the following, the “Editor” is the man on this month's
production team whose computer is being used.)
- OPTION ONE (preferred): Submit as a
Microsoft Word document. Easiest for the Editor, and the most accurately
reproduced format.
Note: if you have used an uncommon font, it may not be on
the Editor's computer, so the
final version may look a little different than yours. If you care
about that, use Option 5.
- OPTION TWO: Submit as an Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) file. Nearly
every word processing app has the ability to save your work as a .pdf.
Note: MS Word has “issues” converting from .pdf files. If
your article has an unusual
format (like JT's typical 2-column layout), uses uncommon fonts, or
if you just want it to
look exactly like you laid it out, use Option Five.
- OPTION THREE: Submit as a text file (.txt)—and images. The Editor will put it all
into a standard/normal Word page format. You will have no control over how
it looks.
- OPTION FOUR: Submit your article in an email & attach
images. Same outcome as Option Three.
- OPTION FIVE: If you want your submission to look exactly
in the print and online versions of the newsletter like it looks on your
computer, you must do this: Save it as a .pdf, email that
.pdf as an attachment to newsletter@eastbaycircleofmen.org , and put
in the subject line this phrase: USE THIS FORMAT!
- IMAGES (photos, drawings, etc.) can be
submitted in any common format (JPEG, PNG,-BMP, TIFF):. If it’s part of an
article, follow Options 1-5 above. If it’s just a image, let
us know whether you want it to go into the print and online
newsletters or just the online version. (There’s a page limit on the print
version; an unlimited number of images can go into the online version.)
Please find a way to sign the image you contribute, per newsletter regs.
